HUTTONS ELECTRONIC CIGARETTE HEALTH & SAFETY GUIDANCE

Huttons Electronic Cigarettes produce a water based vapour so there is no smoke or second hand smoke. The contents of the electronic cigarette and the vapour produced contain a low number of substances compared to a tobacco cigarette that produces over 4000 chemicals. A typical cartridge will only contain the following:

  • Water
  • Nicotine
  • Propylene glycol
  • Scents and flavourings
  • Membrane to suspend the ingredients

The two ingredients to note are nicotine (in a purified liquid form), and propylene glycol.

Propylene glycol provides the smoke like appearance to the vapour. Determined by the U.S Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to be ‘generally recognised as safe’.  It can be found in many food, medicines, toothpaste and cosmetic products, it is one of the main components used to create dry ice. There are some health concerns as the long-term effects of inhaling propylene glycol are unknown. Further testing is required to be carried out although many initial studies are favourable; what is know is the effect of inhaling propylene glycol is by far healthier than inhaling tobacco smoke.

Although electronic cigarettes are a far healthier option than using tobacco cigarettes they still contain nicotine.

Inhaled nicotine is strongly addictive, stopping its use results in cravings and withdrawal symptoms. Nicotine itself is not a major primary cause of smoking-related disease. Nicotine is a highly addictive substance and in a sufficient dosage a deadly poison.

The nicotine contained within our cartridges is in a diluted form, but there is still a risk of serious harm or death if consumed, especially by small children.

Cartridges should be treated with care, always ensure:
